A Discover Weekly alternative
Spotify's Discover Weekly gives you 30 new songs every Monday. If you'd rather not wait a week, Sonik is a free iPhone app with new songs whenever you open it: you swipe through 30-second previews, and it learns what type of music you like from the sound of the songs you keep.

Where Discover Weekly is better
It's already in Spotify, it plays whole songs, and it costs nothing extra. If it's working for you, keep it. Sonik is for when it keeps suggesting the same few artists, or when you want more new songs today.
Why Sonik finds different songs
Discover Weekly starts from your Spotify listening. Sonik starts from the sound: an audio AI turns each song's preview into a fingerprint, and your swipes teach it which sounds you like. A song can sound right for you even if no one you know plays it, so Sonik often reaches artists a listening-based playlist wouldn't.
Questions
Why does Discover Weekly feel repetitive?
It's built from your listening, so if you play the same things it tends to suggest more of them. An app that recommends by sound, like Sonik, can step further from what you already play.
Does Sonik work with Spotify?
Sonik doesn't sign in to Spotify. You swipe through previews inside Sonik, and your playlists save to Apple Music. To move a playlist into Spotify, Sonik copies the songs for a transfer tool such as TuneMyMusic.
Is Sonik free?
Yes. Sonik is free with 100 songs a day and one playlist a week, and your first day has no limit. Sonik Pro, an optional subscription, gives you unlimited songs and playlists.
